This is the Italian cheese known as Casu Marzu. It's just cheese, right? WRONG. It is rotten cheese. Yes, rotten. Purposely filled with maggots that can jump six inches in the air, making this the only food that you can eat that requires eye protection. The maggots, once in your stomach, can burrow into your intestines giving you bloody diarrhea, sicknesses, and diseases. To add to that, the cheese is actually in a stage of decomposing while being eaten. This abomination in actually illegal in some areas of Italy, and is sure not on my list to eat. What about you? What's your nastiest food? Post it in the comments!

The Most Disgusting Food on the Planet
Casu Marzu- the grossest it can get.

Sorry cat lovers, but yes these are a couple of felines about to be put to the slaughter. Sadly, many Asians would enjoy dining on the tasty cat meat. Um.....cats are friends, not food I thought. Oh well. I don't understand how people eat cats and dogs, because it seems so....inhumane to me. And definitely something I wouldn't want to eat. Many animals are even eaten still alive, and have sometimes caused the death of many consumers. Great. Food that is both disturbing and deadly.
This is called Balut. Sounds tasty, right? Well not really, but in case you are wondering, yes this food, pictured above, is real. It is served in mainly Vietnam and it's surrounding countries. It is often called the most odd food on earth by many. Basically, Balut consists of a partially grown duck embryo enclosed in an eggshell. Some say it tastes just like chicken, but i don't think i'll be eating Balut anytime soon.
Below is the Korean dish Sannakji, which is basically a bunch of baby squid. Yes, they are still alive and squirming and believe it or not, if not careful, they may stick their suction-cups onto your throat on the way down.

Yes, this is turtle soup. And yes, I have eaten this. I lived in China from January 2009-June 2011, and definitely came across some strange foods.I really hate how people eat dogs and cats. Like they seriously chop them up alive. Cruel people. Well I have a story to tell. When we were in China, me being 11 years old then, I was obsessed with animals. Especially reptiles. So anyways, the grocery store, "Zhang Bai", I recall it being named, was quite a strange store. It was the meat section of the store that they sold gigantic frogs, that me and my siblings bought for pets. Well, the Chinese intend to eat them, and I can't understand how they don't lose their appetite just by smelling the meat section. The stench was nauseating. Over next to the frogs were turtles and water snake-like creatures that were also a tasty meal to the Chinese. My first freak out in China had to have been when the grocery store lady tried to cut up my pet frog. I didn't like that. Being back in America, though disgusting, I kind of miss the old smells and sights of the average Chinese grocery store.

(above pic by keithkelly) Does this look like a great meal to you? Maybe, maybe not. Tarantula on a stick is fairly common in Cambodia, and certainly to most Americans, would not be exactly appetizing. All over the world there are many disturbing dishes, at least to me. Below is a lizard. A lizard on a stick. Someone is going to eat that lizard on a stick.(Photo by food channel) WHY??? WHAT HAS HUMANITY COME TO??????????? Anyway, these are pretty common foods in Japan, as well as China. Other tasty meals such as; snakes on a stick, duck tongue, and many, many more are available in the markets of southeast Asia. TASTY!! Monkey brains are found in a variety of soups in China, and are said to be quite tasty and juicy. Fantastic.
